Cliff and Daisy Custer were a man and wife team who through the years developed an outstanding business in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County with a product that was often referred to as “black gold”. The Custers sold Texaco products since 1936, starting with the operation of a service station on South Main Street, near what was then Madison College.
